Accenture drops Tiger Woods sponsorship – Tiger Woods Accenture Press Release

Dec. 13, 2009 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that it will not continue its sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods.

For the past six years, Accenture and Tiger Woods have had a very successful sponsorship arrangement and his achievements on the golf course have been a powerful metaphor for business success in Accenture’s advertising.  However, given the circumstances of the last two weeks, after careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising.  Accenture said that it wishes only the best for Tiger Woods and his family.

Accenture will continue to leverage its “High Performance Business” strategy and “High Performance Delivered” positioning in the marketplace.  The company will immediately transition to a new advertising campaign, with a major effort scheduled to launch later in 2010. Read more…

German university study shows superior performance by Gelcompany’s new HPE System

November 2009 – Sydney, Australia: A study by Germany’s Greifswald University has confirmed the outstanding performance of Gelcompany’s High Performance Electrophoresis (HPE) system.

HPE comprises innovative consumables and equipment that enable scientists to better measure biological processes using horizontal high performance electrophoresis.

Gelcompany, the wholly owned subsidiary of Fluorotechnics (ASX: FLS), commissioned Greifswald’s University Institute for Microbiology headed by Prof. Michael Hecker (contact: Mr Knut Buettner) to conduct the study to evaluate the new HPE system against the current forms of electrophoresis methodology at one of the world’s leading proteomic research facilities. Andrew O’Brien appointed to Trans Tasman Commercialisation Fund

November, 2009: Melbourne, Australia: The Trans Tasman Commercialisation Fund (TTCF) has engaged Grannus Securities and Dr Andrew P O’Brien as Senior Investment Manager to lead the fund’s management team while an international search for a Senior Investment Manager is conducted.   Dr O’Brien will take up the role focusing on executing operational outcomes and working with the team and member universities to identify projects, complete due diligence and make and manage investments.

Wesfarmers launches reconciliation action plan

Wesfarmers today launched its inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Managing Director, Richard Goyder, said the RAP was a commitment by Wesfarmers aimed at ensuring that the company’s businesses were places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples felt welcome and valued, as employees, customers and citizens.

“I believe that Wesfarmers, and corporate Australia generally, have a role to play in combating the disadvantage experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia,” he said

The RAP includes a series of specific measurable actions to be undertaken across the Wesfarmers Group and at a Corporate Office level, targeting employment and community engagement. Read more…

Steel Frame Expo points to upswing in National housing industry

The national housing industry put on a positive face this week at the Steel Frame Building Expo staged at Yarraville in Melbourne.

According to major exhibitor FRAMECAD™, a number of up-beat signals were given at the Expo that indicate the Australian housing industry’s slump is over – or soon will be.

FRAMECAD™ Regional Sales Manager, Mr Peter Blythe said, “There were four very positive signs:-

  • feedback from attendees from the industry through the week consistently referred to a ‘turnaround’ and things looking better in terms of their customer interest and sales
  • attendance at the Expo was better than expected with good crowds on most days including tertiary students from Holmesglen TAFE
  • attendees mainly asked business-building questions; they were mainly prospective buyers rather than ‘tire-kickers’
  • FRAMECAD’s™ sales were good, selling two machines so far this week plus two or three very positive leads that we look forward to converting into sales in coming weeks.”

Ascent enters into agreement with Pfizer to sell and promote Pfizer off-patent products in Australia

Exclusive Distribution Agreement with Rosetta Genomics Inc.

Genetic Technologies Limited (ASX: GTG; NASDAQ: GENE) is pleased to advise that it has executed an Exclusive Test and Services Agreement with Rosetta Genomics Inc. (“Rosetta”), under which the Company will become the exclusive distributor in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore for Rosetta’s microRNA-based assays.  Rosetta, whose headquarters are located in Rehovot, Israel, also operates an accredited laboratory in Philadelphia, USA.

Under the Agreement, GTG will distribute Rosetta’s three recently launched miRview™ tests in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.  By leveraging unique biomarkers called microRNAs, Rosetta’s miRview™ tests can offer patients and physicians new insights on cancer.
