Battle of Waterloo continues more than 200 years later

Mick Gentleman MLA will on Sunday attended the annual ‘Battle of Waterloo’ car show at Weston Park, the event is set to be the ‘battle’ between British and French manufactured Vehicles.

Minister Gentleman said the show which last year commemorated the 200th anniversary of the actual battle of waterloo is aimed to be a bit of fun between the British and French car owners.

“There is constant competition in the vintage car club world, and nothing much tops that between French and British car owners. The argument of whose motor vehicle is superior always manages to come up at shows.”

“It is great to see this event come back to Canberra this year, and as an MG owner I look forward to the British cars been crowned victorious in this year’s ‘battle’.

“This year is sure to be a great show with previous years having over 100 cars and around 150 participants. Many representatives from the Canberra MG club and the Renault car club of Canberra are set to be in attendance, and my own MGA is ready to take part on the day” Minister Gentleman said.

The battle of waterloo car show will be held at Tidbinbilla space tracking station this Sunday (4th September), with gates opening at 10:00am. Food and drinks will be available at facilities on the day.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in automotive history, French or British cars, or just cars in general to come along and have a look at the marvelous show that this event puts on.” Minister Gentleman concluded.
