The Spanish Program at the Australian National University has been recognised as one of Australia’s best higher education programs at the 2012 Australian Awards for University Teaching at the National Gallery Australia in Canberra last night.

Storm Sandy a lesson for Australians investing in the US property market

Transit Systems wins Sydney Buses bid

One of Australia’s most experienced transport operators, Transit Systems, has been awarded a bus-operating contract for Contract 3 in Sydney’s bus network, servicing suburbs from Liverpool and Wetherill Park up to Parramatta.

Transit Systems CEO, Clint Feuerherdt, said the appointment of the contract by Transport for NSW was ultimately a win for residents and the community.

“We’re excited to bring our extensive experience in running and optimising transport systems to the NSW market and look forward to delivering innovative long term solutions and value for money to the community and to the Government. Local company Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) and Aranda’s Sara Burke have been named as finalists for the 2012 Australian Training Awards.

$90 945 from the Gillard’s Government’s $1 billion Clean Technology Investment will help Elvin Group, a local manufacturer based in Mitchell, to reduce energy costs, improve efficiency and lower carbon pollution.

First time property buyers motivated to save longer

More first homebuyers plan to purchase their first property later in life, according the 2012 Mortgage Choice Future First Homebuyer Survey.

This annual study of 1,000 Australians who plan to buy their first home in the next two years found 41% of first homebuyers will be aged 30-39 years, 39% will be 18-29 years of age, 14% will be 40-49 and 6% will be aged over 50 years. Hence, the number of first homebuyers aged 30 or more years has increased from 54% in the 2011 survey to 61%. Read more…
